Lab member / Graduate Researcher
Ashley D. Warren is a first-year Human Factors/Human-Computer Interaction Doctoral Student at Rice University. She received her B.S. in Psychology and B.A. in International Studies at the University of Idaho. Ashley completed her master’s degree, with the guidance of Dr. Robert Proctor, in the cognitive psychology doctoral program at Purdue University. After Dr. Proctor’s passing, Ashley transitioned to Rice University to work with Dr. Jing Chen. She is interested in teaching and researching basic and applied aspects of human performance, specifically with an emphasis on haptic and tactile feedback, the relation between perception and action, and training and transfer.
During her time at Purdue, Ashley was the co-president of the Purdue Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) Student Chapter and served as a Graduate Student Council Member. Ashley was recognized by the department through receiving the Graduate Student Recognition Award. She was also awarded the Best Student-Authored Paper Award from the HFES Training Technical Group (TTG). She currently is the co-student engagmeent coordinator for the HFES TTG and the student representative for APA’s Division 21. Ashley was awarded the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship, which will help fund her research for three years.
Outside of academics, Ashley enjoys competitively racing her bicycle, running with her dog named Munro, skiing, and finding new foods to try – which is especially fun in Houston!
